Bayer Advantage II Purple for Cats 9+ lbs$46.996An added bonus for me was that each tube of Advantage opened quietly and application was easy. The flea drops also didn't have a strong smell, unlike some other treatments I've used. That helped out a lot - no tracking down the cats or coaxing them from underneath furniture.
A day after applying Advantage to everyone and they were flea free.
Many reviewers mentioned the good price and compared this product favourably with Frontline.
Frontline Top Spot Flea and Tick Control for Cats and Kittens$58.626I've tried other solutions - flea collars, products from other sources, and have only found one other item that matches the Frontline effectiveness for eliminating fleas. Within a day of the first use, the cats had stopped scratching and licking incessantly at their fleas. One of my cats is particularly allergic to fleas, and breaks out with sores at the flea bites - for him, Frontline is nothing short of a miracle.
This product works really well. Our cat spends a lot of time outdoors and used to get fleas regularly even with flea collars. This stuff is easy to apply and works. We haven't had fleas again in 8 months.
Some users found that this product did not work for their cats.
Bayer Advantage II Orange for Cats 5-9 lbs$53.736Advantage killed the fleas within the first 12 hours and it has been a full month with no returns. I have to say I am very satisfied with Advantage and will continue to use this brand.
I noticed immediate improvement in my cat's scratching within 1 day of application, and after 2 days the black "flea feces" were nowhere to be found in his fur.
I am very happy with this product, delivery and its price.
Some reviews said that this product didn't work for their cats.
Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control for Cats and Kittens$62.946INCREDIBLE !!!!!!
I've used powders, I've used flea dips and flea shampoos and sprays flea combs.I then even resorted to garlic in their diets and on their fur..........nothing worked.
Then I tried Frontline, with my discouragement. Fleas are tough !
Frontline got rid of my ENTIRE FLEA PROBLEM.
Other users were not so happy and one recorded that her cat suffered an allergic reaction to this product. The cat recovered and the owner was offered a full refund by the manufacturers of Frontline.
Novartis Capstar Flea Treatment Blue Tabs for Dogs and Cats$21.99Not specified. Pack contains 6 tablets.I got this product because we suddenly had a flea infestation on both my cats and my chihuahua. It worked great to kill the adult fleas and started within about 2 hours. But I would VERY strongly recommend that you have a long term treatment immediately available. I bought a topical solution as well but it had not been delivered yet and the flea eggs already on my dog hatched in the meantime. My dog was COVERED in fleas the day after! I gave him another dose and applied the topical solution and now he is flea-free. YOU WILL NEED SOMETHING TO KILL THE EGGS ALSO!!! Tablet form - could be difficult to administer.
Natural Flea Spray for Cats$5.998 ounce bottle. One application lasts one week.No reviews.
Ovitrol Plus Flea, Tick & Bot Spray$13.4316oz trigger spray. One application effective for up to 2 months. The other day I took my cats to the vet b/c they had flea dermatitis, but I told the vet that I was pretty sure the fleas were gone. He pulled this stuff out of his cubbord and LIGHTLY misted them with it and rubbed it in a little- the fleas were jumping off my cats (and dying on the table) before my eyes!! I couldn't believe it!! I love that it worked without me having to lather them in it and it hasn't made them sick or lethargic at all. It also doesn't leave behind a nasty smell or coating on their fur. I LOVE IT!! Very few adverse reviews of this product.
